Story of Gampaha Kabanika Govinge Sangamaya(GKGS)
There were around 25 farmers in Gampaha area who were certified for organic farming and were already supplying organic fruits to Target Agriculture for 15 years. In year 2011, these farmers formed an association called “Gampaha Kabanika Govinge Sangamaya” with the influence of European customers of Target Agriculture (PVT) Ltd. On ethical sourcing. At the beginning, they had only organic certified lands for few crops with a reasonable income.
Today seven years later, it consists of approximately 76 farmer members spread in several parts of the island other than Gampaha and a Total land extent of 1250 acres.
Gampaha Kabanika Govinge Sangamaya  was the first SPO in Sri Lanka who worked with FLOcert to publish price standards for  Sri Lanka  Mango in fair trade price lists.
